Co-operatives UK

  • Business Support for co-ops programme. From up to six days tailored support and mentoring, to digital tools and events we can help you to start or grow your co-op. Co-operatives UK and The Co-operative Bank supporting fair and ethical business together. Open for applications on a monthly rolling basis.
  • Community Shares Booster Fund – a funding scheme to support community share offers. The Booster Fund is delivered in partnership by Co-operatives UK, Locality, Plunkett UK, and Co-operative and Community Finance.
  • Co-op Practitioners Directory – This directory lists co-op practitioners offering a range of expert services for new-start co-ops, existing co-ops and businesses looking to convert to co-ops.
  • The Co-operative Bank: Free everyday community banking

Stronger Together: How Support and Shared Leadership Re-energised the Fox & Goose

The Fox & Goose in Hebden Bridge is a well-loved community-owned pub. In 2013 when the pub was at risk of closure, local residents formed a Community Benefit Society and collectively purchased it through a Community Share Offer which raised £130k and helped safeguard the pub as a valued community asset. The Fox & Goose currently have 380 members – most of who live in the local community. A subsequent crowdfunding campaign raised £12,000 and was used to build a shelter for the beer garden at the back of the pub.
