14 out of 22 of this year’s finalists are West Yorkshire-based
Including 6 in Leeds, 4 in Kirklees, 3 in Bradford and 1 in Calderdale
Business for Good West Yorkshire (BFGWY) would like to congratulate all of the West Yorkshire-based finalists in this year’s Social Enterprise Yorkshire and Humber (SEYH) Awards 2023, showcasing the range of great work and impact that our local social enterprises have.
This year’s finalists range from hyper-local organisations such as Bramley Baths that runs the local swimming pool and gym and The Nest Holmfirth that supports parents in the Holmfirth and the Holme Valley, to larger ones like INN CHURCHES that works via 100 groups and 70 churches across the whole of Bradford. And they show the range of sectors and industries that social enterprises can work in, from training to mental health and wellbeing support, from social care, welfare and community support to recycling, cafes, forest schools and photography.
Armley Action Team deserves a special mention for being shortlisted as a finalist in both the Start Up Award and Social Investment Award categories. The Community Interest Community runs a number of projects that help Armley in Leeds ‘thrive and not just survive’.
Helen Orlic, Programme Manager for Business for Good West Yorkshire said, ‘To have 14 West Yorkshire-based finalists out of a total of 22 from the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber is an amazing achievement, and hopefully with the extra start-up and development support from BFGWY over the next year, there’ll be even more West Yorkshire finalists in 2024!’
The winners will be announced on 7th March 2024 at an special event, sponsored by Refurnish at The Hospitium in York.
